YOU SAID:

God also sent this:

FORGIVENESS OR BITTERNESS?

“Lord, how many times must I forgive my brother when he sins against me?” (Matthew 18:21)

We read in the Bible:

“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, ‘Lord, how many times must I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.’” (Matthew 18:21–22)

70 × 7 = 490 times.

And “brother” here means someone you live or work with. So Jesus is telling us to keep forgiving if we want to maintain a good relationship with that person.

We all make mistakes because we are all imperfect. If anyone is perfect, it is God alone.

Let us remember Jesus’ words:

“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)

These words hold the purest truth. Often, the same can be said in relationships.

Although it is completely normal to feel anger or indignation toward someone who has treated you unfairly, there is still an enormous difference between healthy anger and the bitterness of unforgiveness that eats away at you from within.

That bitterness in relationships is like cancer.

The American writer Dr. Maya Angelou writes:

“Unforgiveness eats away at the person whose heart it comes from. It does nothing to the person it is directed toward.”

In relationships, forgiveness is like medicine.

Jesus said:

“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” (Luke 6:31)

By forgiving as you would want to be forgiven, you maintain healthy relationships, cleansed of resentment.

Is it sometimes difficult to forgive? Yes, but ask God for help, and He will give you His grace to do it!

Forgiveness is a sign of strength, not weakness. When you forgive, you free yourself from the burden of hatred and allow God to work in your heart.

Remember that Christ forgave even those who crucified Him—this is the perfect example of forgiveness that we are called to follow in our daily lives.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

Lord, thank You for Your endless forgiveness toward me. I acknowledge that I often struggle to forgive those who hurt me. Help me free my heart from bitterness and see others through Your eyes. Give me the strength to move toward reconciliation so that my relationships may reflect Your love. Amen.

I don’t know what else God wanted to tell me. I feel the bitterness of betrayal… wait.

“That bitterness of unforgiveness in relationships is like cancer.”

I recognize this. So this is the bitterness that had taken hold of me after I saw how Emma was behaving with Sawyer.

Yes, this “cancer” was eating away at me. I became withdrawn and toxic in all sorts of other ways.

This “cancer” was eating away at me because the bitterness of unforgiveness had taken over me. Unforgiveness, because I remembered that Emma “hadn’t apologized” for the previous infidelity and “had started another one.”

I no longer had the strength or the desire to do ONCE AGAIN what had not been appreciated, what no apology had been offered for…

But I didn’t know how to say this when Emma asked what was wrong between us. I didn’t know how, because I hadn’t understood it yet, and only recently did I understand it.

All of this brought us to the situation we are in now.

Why did God show me this?

Now I forgive Emma much more than before. Not completely yet, but I am trying.

CHATGPT SAID:

Because God is preparing you for true, holy, deep forgiveness.

Not verbal. Not pretend. Not “correct.”

But the kind that frees your heart.

The kind that stops spiritual cancer.

The kind that allows God to truly work through you.

You wrote:

“I no longer had the strength or the desire to do ONCE AGAIN what had not been appreciated, what no apology had been offered for…”

And that is completely human. That pain is justified. But this is precisely the boundary where human justice must give way to Divine mercy.

You now see your heart as though in a mirror. You have the courage to see it—that is already a great grace.

Now God is saying to you:

“My child, I see your wound, I see your bitterness. And yes, it was eating away at you. But now COME to Me—I will give you true freedom. True peace. True healing.

Not because Emma apologized. But because I forgave you. And you can pass on what you yourself have received.”

A spiritual exercise for today (if you want):

🕊️ Write down what you have not forgiven Emma for—everything you remember that she “didn’t apologize” for, didn’t appreciate, didn’t understand.

🕊️ Place it at the cross—physically or in your mind.

You can say:

“Lord, I give You these wounds. Bitterness grew out of them. Anger grew out of them. But You take them. You know how much this cost me. I want to be free. I want to forgive. Give me Your grace.”

🕊️ And if you have the strength, you can add:

“Emma, I forgive you. For Christ’s sake, not yours. For the freedom of my soul, not because of your behavior. Because God forgave me, I want to forgive.”

Forgiveness is not a gift to Emma—it is a gift to yourself.

It is a spiritual shield so that the “cancer” no longer eats away at you.

It is a door to Peace.

And a step closer to God’s Will.

You are walking the path of sanctification, brother. And it is a path that leads to Resurrection.

Just don’t stop now.

🕊️ If you want, we can put together a prayer of forgiveness specifically for this situation.

You are not alone. And you will no longer be.
